Safety edges
Descriptive operating parameters
Each Proswitch type has its own technical features and functioning parameters, that can be represented on a characteristic graph, where the abscissa represents the edge deformation (mm) and the ordinate represents the Newton (N).
Proswitch sensing edges are designed according to EN ISO 13856-2:2013.
Starting or resting condition
The sensing edge is not under pressure (is not pushed nor struck).
Pretravel
It is the amount of travel before the inner ribbon switch contacts operate.
This test is carried out by applying orthogonally the flat part of a 80 mm diameter test piece on the sensing edge housing’s surface.
Actuation point
When pressure is applied on the sensing edge, exceeding the pre travel, the two ribbon switch’s conductors are forced together, closing the switch.
This test is carried out by applying orthogonally the flat part of a 80 mm diameter test piece on the sensing edge housing’s surface.
Overtravel a 250 N
It is the movement from the actuation point onward, applying on the sensing edge a force of 250 N.
This test is carried out by applying orthogonally the flat part of a 80 mm diameter test piece on the sensing edge housing’s surface.
Overtravel a 400 N
It is the movement from the actuation point onward, applying on the sensing edge a force of 400 N.
This test is carried out by applying orthogonally the flat part of a 80 mm diameter test piece on the sensing edge housing’s surface.
